Chapter 31 - Loose Ends

This is gonna be a spare kind of blog, word-wise. I loaded up these pictures several weeks ago and then hit a dead spot and...just left them.

But I'm back now and filling in the gaps. So, I thought I'd just publish the pictures with some explanation, they deserve a little, but it won't be like my other blogs. But, who knows. I am not known for my ability to be brief, short, to the point, terse, succinct, crisp, pithy, incisive, trenchant, laconic or elliptical. Hahaha, see what I mean?

This was so long ago that I forgot what the deal was with this plant. But, it was there and I got a picture of it.

Colorful flags for sale along The 101. They sell kites and wind-socks and....stuff.

I don't think that's Johnathan...in fact, I haven't seen him in nearly a month now. But he was a gull and he was sitting up on the peak of the Hardy Boys Mystery House and so, like the plant above, I got a picture.

I forget, sometimes, how close we live to a Casino. A Casino with all the Casino stuff, the gambling, the shows, the buffets and so on. I've been there for one buffet and for an arm-wrestling contest. And, maybe something else.

It's got a lot of potential, just not for me I guess.

The front entrance to the Casino.

And that plant, again. Remember, I've explained this before. I usually present the pictures in the order they were taken which, in the larger scheme of things, has no apparent rhyme or reason to it. It's just the order in which I took the pictures.

So, for some reason, I took another picture of this plant.

And these plants

And our new Taco Bell. It's open now and while I looked forward to having this restaurant within walking distance to my house, I think I've been there twice in the couple months it has been open. Both times within a week or two of when it opened.

Hahaha, it's like the Casino. It's there but I don't use it.

I went to a showing at the Chessman Art Gallery at the Lincoln City Cultural Center (LC3). I think. I think this was one of the exhibits in the show.

Oh, yeah. It was the art show. I didn't care for it.

Too contrived. Too much straining to be 'artsy'.

I coordinated a project between the BSA Troop 47 and ASLC. It was to build bird house for placement along the Salmon River to sustain the Purple Martin population.

So, the LC3 let the Troop use a large room downstairs for the project. The boys just had to help move out all the scrap metal first.

And then the Scouts got to work with Tom and Caren on the project.

They ended up building seven houses and painting them.

And I went to an Eagle Court of Honor.

When I got there the Mom asked me to take pictures of the ceremony for her. Seems I got to be the official photographer.

Scoutmaster Mike Freel

Master of Ceremonies, Zach Colbert.

Noah Marshal, the Eagle Scout.

Don Thomas, the Charter Rep from Kiwanis.

Don and Jeremy Colbert, Assistant Scoutmaster.

On a walk downtown, it hailed.

And our local Dollar Tree.

Swallows, on their migration back north.

This was taken at Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge. A stop along the way to Salem and a doctor's appointment.

I don't even remember anymore. Somewhere on The 101.

Metal roosters.

Oh, drove up to McMinnville for a short visit. Just something to do.

That was one hefty urinal. Never seen one so...imposing.

It's a pretty nice small town with a small college. It's on the way to Portland.

Got off the main drag and explored some backroads country.

The Troop at a meeting.

The Scoutmaster, Mike Freel.

The Charter Rep, Don Thomas.

Carol, Committee Member.

Bob Moore, District Commissioner.

Some doofus.

Spring, I guess.

My room.

It's funny. In the Old Oregon bar.

Mowing the doggone lawn for the first time this year.

The mower almost won.

Down by the 15th Street Beach Access for the Tide Pool Clinics. I help by collecting signatures of those that attend so the City will keep the Clinics going.

Still don't like seeing cars on the beach. It's because I was raised in So. Cal. They didn't do that kind of thing there and so...

Folks attending the Clinic.

Dr. Chuck talking to the group.

One of the things they do is use this square to focus their attention and then they count and id whatever they see within that square.

It's all very scientific.

Dr. Chuck. He's a nice guy. Trying to develop educational programs for all grades that gets the kids out of the classroom and into the field. He took the Troop on an excursion and helped them earn most of the requirements for an Oceanography Merit Badge.

Well, that was that.

A lot of pictures.

At least I got this one published.
